Bring in the New Year
Last night I did my first performance of the year at the Open Mic at The Bridge in Douglas. Just as I was about to play, my harmonica mouth holder broke

Moral of the story: always take two harmonica holders with you.
I performed these new songs that I’ve been working on.
Set list:
- Intro
2. Barley & Oats
3. Riding Up That Hill
4. Where Do They Go (The Ones Not Represented)
5. I Am Monkey
6. Famous for Tomorrow
7. Winter is Coming
Working on a Manx text version of “Winter is Coming.”
As we know it here, ‘Ta Geamyr er Gerjaghey’

Down to The Sea
1.
This is never what I intended
Can't you see I wanted it to be free
To flow through my mind undefined
to take a trip through time
But I have try
If I have to think
I might well just wink
Because you know the game that is in play
Take me down to the sea
I want to be free
Roll along with the sea
Take me down to the sea
I want to be free
Roll along with the sea
2.
I can watch the moving pieces
That shoot in front of my eyes
Weaknesses that you let one fly
You think you know why
One can come
Along for the ride
Into the heart of things
That make one wonder why
I want to go to the Sea -
Come to The Ball
Won’t come to the ball with me tonight
Won’t come to the ball with me
Won’t come to the ball with me tonight

I can dance out of my shoes
I am a great dancer, I am a great dancer
I can dance away your bluesWon’t come to the ball with me tonight
Won’t come to the ball with me
Won’t come to the ball with me tonight
Won’t come to the ball with meI am a great dancer, I am a great dancer
I can dance out of my socks
I am a great dancer, I am a great dancer
I can dance away your jocksWon’t come to the ball—I will be wearing a red nose
I am very romantic, I am very romantic, I swear
I am very romantic—I’ll take you to the fairWon’t come to the ball with me tonight
Won’t come to the ball with me
Won’t come to the ball with me tonight
Won’t come to the ball with meI am a great dancer, I can dance all around the room
I am a great dancer—if you don’t come, I’m bringing my broomWon’t come to the ball with me tonight, oh darling
Won’t come to the ball with me

David Whyte
Something deep and mystical in this podcast episode. I came across Whyte’s work while visiting a museum in Dublin in 2019. #podcast
